Henna for Twins

This henna was designed for this mother who was having twins. We put together our ideas and came up with this design which represents the likeness and difference of her twins. What a special way to honor them!

This henna for twins hennaed pregnant belly is truly a BEAUTIFUL work of art by the obviously TALENTED Shireen!!! In addition to the henna art design on this mom-to-be's big round pregnant belly there's something else that I find very APPEALING.That would be her bellybutton jewelry.I ABSOLUTELY LOVE innie bellybuttons on pregnant bellies and when a piercing is sitting inside an innie the way hers is I LOVE it even more!!!!!!!!!!!!

A little background about henna.

Henna is the Persian name for a shrub known as Lawsonia inermis. A paste is made using the dried, crushed leaves from the henna plant mixed with sugar, lemon juice and essential oils. The art of decorating the body with henna paste has been practiced for nearly five thousand years throughout Africa, India and the Middle East. Henna is used for special occasions such as weddings, pregnancy, postpartum or just as a way to bond with one another. Henna is though of as a blessing to ward off evil spirits and impart good luck.

Henna during pregnancy is an ancient practice. It is completely safe to the mother and child. Henna is applied to the belly of a pregnant women in her third trimester as a way to protect both the mother and child during her easy and quick birth. Henna is a wonderful way to honor and bless the mother during this very special time in her life. It is also very soothing and relaxing for the mother and those around her.
